Questions & answers
What is PRP therapy?
PRP therapy, or platelet-rich plasma therapy, uses a small sample of your own blood, spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and growth factors that orchestrate healing, and injects the prepared plasma into an injured joint, tendon, or ligament.
How PRP is made
A small blood sample is drawn, then spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and growth factors from the rest of the blood. The concentrated plasma is then ready for injection.
What PRP is used for
PRP is most often discussed for knee osteoarthritis, tendon injuries like tennis elbow and Achilles problems, plantar fasciitis, and other stubborn soft tissue pain. It is one of the most studied regenerative treatments.
What a PRP visit looks like
A PRP visit takes about 30 to 60 minutes: blood draw, preparation, numbing, and a guided injection into the target area. Expect mild soreness for a few days, with improvement building over weeks.
Is PRP right for you?
PRP is often a good starting point for patients new to regenerative medicine, but the right choice depends on your condition. A consultation at Aloha Stem Cell includes an honest recommendation about whether PRP may help.
