What a PRP injection is and how it works
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is exactly what it sounds like: plasma that has been enriched with platelets. Platelets carry growth factors and signaling proteins that help coordinate tissue repair, and concentrating them lets a single injection deliver a meaningful dose of those signals to an injured area.
Because the plasma comes from your own blood, the treatment is autologous, with a very low risk of allergic reaction or immune rejection. The whole process, from blood draw to injection, happens in the clinic during your visit.
