Can I drive myself home after treatment?

P Written by: Phil Kim Medically reviewed by: Dr. Robert Aki, DPM Last medically reviewed: October 9, 2026

Most patients can drive themselves home after treatment, since no general anesthesia is used and the procedure is a guided injection. If your treatment involves sedation or if you feel unsteady, arrange a ride; your provider will advise you before you leave.

The usual case

Stem cell and PRP treatments use numbing at the collection and injection sites, not general anesthesia. Most patients feel fine to drive themselves home afterward.

When to arrange a ride

If your provider recommends sedation for your procedure, or if you tend to feel lightheaded with needles or procedures, plan ahead and bring someone to drive you.

The first hours at home

Plan to rest for the remainder of the day, keep the treated area protected, and follow your written aftercare instructions. Soreness and swelling are normal.

Ask before you book

When you schedule your treatment, ask the team whether you should arrange a ride. The answer depends on your specific procedure, and we will tell you clearly.
